CHRIS RIX

San Gabriel Valley Director of Ministry - Chris Rix

Chris Rix grew up in the San Gabriel Valley where he attended middle school and high school, excelling in football, baseball, basketball, golf, tennis and track. Chris went on to receive a full scholarship to Florida State University where he was the ACC Freshman of the year in 2001 and became the first four-year starter at quarterback under Bobby Bowden.

Chris grew up going to church, but was shown in college that he could have a real, personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This journey grew throughout his college years as he experienced many victories and challenges both on and off the field. Also, while in college Chris went to South Africa on a Mission Trip and further saw the influence that a Christian athlete could have on a young person.

Following his college football career at Florida State and time with the San Diego Chargers, a desire in Chris’ heart was to make a positive and lasting impact on the next generation of leaders and athletes. After spending 5 years ministering to athletes and coaches, Chris joined the FCA staff in 2010 as the Director of Ministries for the San Gabriel Valley. The San Gabriel Valley is very dear to Chris because it is the area where he went to school, where he has coached, taught in various schools and where his family lives. He is very thankful to know the San Gabriel Valley well and also be familiar with its youth community. Furthermore, he has looked in the eyes of the students and believes that they need to be impacted with more of the Gospel. Because of this reality, Chris has a burning desire to help mold effective disciples that will influence their teams, campus, and community.

Chris, along with his wife Anita, feel the calling and responsibility to help encourage and impact the next generation of young men and women leaders to seek out and fulfill their Destiny. Anita is a teacher at Bishop Amat Memorial High School where Chris has coached football and where they first met while in high school. Chris is also a Sportscaster and founder of the Champion Sports Training Academy which focuses on developing and mentoring young athletes.
